There’s a certain kind of techno that only Underworld can do - a mesmerising murmur of a bass groove, an electronic riff that cuts through like a crack of light and a vocal that serves to spin you further into a hypnotic state. Schiphol Test is each of those things, in perfect harmony, and a whole lot more. Push. Push. Push. Push. Push. Push. Push. Push. Moving On.
‘Rick started this on his iPad, waiting for a flight out of Schiphol airport. The second I heard those first opening bars of bass line and chords and groove I became fixated with finding a response with words that was as equally stripped and succulent’ - Karl.
If you like… Always Loved a Film, Cups, Low Burn, Mo Move… then Schiphol Test belongs to you.

Connected to the source
One, One, One
Connected to the source
One, One, One, One
Moving on
Moving on
Connected to the source
Moving on
For someone
The rhythm of kicking
The rhythm of kicking
Got to get away!
Moving on
Moving on
Push

Remember
Remember
Quick
Slow
Loose
Tired
Unbuttoning
One, One, One, One
Remember
Remember
Shake
Slow
Loose
Tired
Unbuttoning
One, One, One, One
Moving on
Moving on
Connected to the source
One, One, One,
Whose words are these?
Written on walls
Whose time is coming?
Who fans the flames?
Who names the names?
Who points the finger?
In the age of diplomacy
In the temple of time
The sleeping bag of doorways thrives
And the charm of a crime that wouldn’t hurt anyone is appealing
Tell me I’m not crazy

If touring was possible, these are the sounds I’d be chilling out to in my bus bunk after getting off stage from another night of banging techno. (Karl Hyde/Underworld). Underworld
THREE is fantastic! ‘Bloom’ is pure, unpredictable, relentless sonic nectar. The Necks are an animal machine, painters of landscapes that make my head feel good. - (Karl Hyde - Underworld) Underworld

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
